About the OGEO

OGEO is an informal interest group with a focus on Earth Observation, bringing together the two communities of the Oil and Gas industry and the EO service provider industry.  It was initiated and set up  as a result of the 1st Oil & Gas Workshop organised by ESA and held in Frascati in September 2010. OGEO brings these two communities together around subjects of common interest and to facilitate the communication within and amongst the communities regarding  Earth Observation in the Oil and gas industry

The OGEO-Portal is a web tool for these two communities to interact. To become a member of the OGEO  you must be employed either by a company that is eligible to be a member of the (International Association of Oil and Gas Producers) or of EARSC (European Association of Remote Sensing Companies). For the initial, pilot period of OGEO these are the criteria by which a member is judged before giving access. In the future the membership criteria will be reviewed and the OGEO will be opened to a wider membership.

The group is run through a small steering group comprising members from OGP and the EO services sector. EARSC provides the secretariat and administers the Portal.

If you wish to apply to join the Portal then contact secretariat@earsc.org.
