General description |
Overview of Challenge |
||||
5 |
What is the nature of the challenge? (What is not adequately addressed at present?) |
New developments can require relocation of communities and existing infrastructure. The value of the occupied land for compensation / purchase needs to be made at a particular time and day, and needs to be supported by documentary evidence relating to the status of the area at the given time and date. Getting sufficiently accurate mapping / geo-data in a timely manner can be challenging. |
||||
6 |
Thematic information requirements |
4. Obtain detailed land-use information, 9. Obtain detailed imagery of assets, |
||||
7 |
Nature of the challenge - What effect does this challenge have on operations? |
If this data is not available, the development process can be stalled and time to development can be severely delayed. Costs associated with numerous failed attempts at getting this data (for example in tropical areas where cloud cover can be an issue), |
||||
8 |
What do you currently do to address this challenge?/ How is this challenge conventionally addressed? |
On the ground surveys |
||||
9 |
What kind of solution do you envisage could address this challenge? |
Very high to medium resolution EO data to monitor land use changes.
|
||||
10 |
What is your view on the capability of technology to meet this need? – are you currently using EO tech? If not, why not? |
EO could be a useful complimentary technology |
