Polar Ship Certification requires operational limit temperature to be defined for the ships and this is presented in the Polar Ship Certificate. This can be presented also presented as Polar Service Temperature. Polar Code requires that at least 10 years of observations of temperature is used in defining mean daily low temperature (MDLT) for ships operation area. Operational limit temperature needs to be selected at least 10°C below the lowest MDLT for operation season.
